Make stateview more accessible

Okay so this one might be a bit long winded as I’m well aware of svl probably not agreeing with me here. But I’ve seen a LOT of accessibility issues when it comes to stateview.

And I mean a lot.

So I’m going to mention a few things and a few solutions because that’s what this is for, right?

Anyways! Throughout my time in stateview I’ve realise that the platform in itself is inaccessible to a range of people. And I mean a big range. New players don’t know about the existence of forums and have no idea about rules or the fact that we can modcall. We’ve all seen people struggling in-game because they just don’t know that help is provided, which I find genuinely disheartening, as people who like this kind of game will miss out on an opportunity to join a genuinely fun community. Now I know there isn’t much to fix this issue, maybe besides adding small tips on the loading screen or in the game description, having the link to forums and whatnot.

Another thing I noticed which has impacted my time here, along with some others, is the time schedule. We are all aware that rank quota is a public thing that everyone knows about, its even stated here in forums. That in itself is inaccessible. The idea of a quota is amazing, it gets people active and keeps the community going. But I’m well aware of times where people have had to resign because it was too much, they’ve been punished for just not having the time, or in my care a genuine disability that has stopped me from doing things.

Leading on from that, people with disabilities have and genuinely will struggle moving up ranks in this game. Theres been one or two times where I have fainted midgame and almost gotten punished for afk farming or I’ve had a medical issue and been inable to come online for days on end. And those days on end last less than the amount of time needed to take LOA, making me miss out on things like quota or making myself genuinely ill to make up for it.

I know it sounds stupid but making LOA time less, or making people able to take it more frequently if they mention to a hc member that they are sick or struggling may make the community more active and bareable.

Now I know some of you are gonna say ‘oh but angel you can just resign’, the thing is I don’t WANT to resign, I’ve grown close to this community and my time here benefits me mentally. On days where I cant move its nice to have a community I can talk to about the same game that we all enjoy.

I talked about the new players problem an eternity ago in Why I think the rules are not transmitted well - and how it might be solved

And it would actually be quite easy to fix…

The modcall feature is briefy explained in the officer quiz however other then that, this is a great recommendation. Possibly in areas like staff command where they have brief guides or lunch they can put a little board which advertises the fourms for players to look up on.

Modcall is explained in the officer quiz as stated in the previous response, but it is incorrectly stated. Not sure if you recall, but the question is smt like: “What would you do when you see some breaking rules?” the answer is “!modcall.” This does confuse people.

Your first suggestion is pretty cool, a loading screen with tips, or something indicating there is a community behind the game is smart.

I personally don’t have any medical impairments, but I agree with you. It should be a game that is fair for everyone, and the loading screen tips would actually be pretty cool & will help new players.

I’ll also look into this on the CM side of stuff, as these are great suggestions.
